5/10/2023 0 Comments Lord of rigel fighters![]() PS: Don’t kill me :-P but I even enjoyed Enterprise more than TNG, yeah the time travel stuff was annoying but Enterprise humanity was more balanced and they did the Vulcans and Andorians so well (Lore wise I liked what they did with those races). But MOO2 like TNG Star Trek did such a poor job of portraying the human race that I think as you seem to think as well to do something different something more balanced and interesting :-) Don’t get me wrong I appreciate what Master of Orion 1 and 2 did for the 4x genre but it’s time to move on, take some of the good systems (not everything was great) from Orion and improve them and try to make it into something new and I do think they actually intend to do that from what I have seen. A lot of 4x makers try to pay so much homage to MOO2 and I think that’s a bit silly, I’m not very big MOO2 player since it came out when I was 2 years old so kind of before my time but 4x should evolve and go forwards not constantly trying to remake a game that is now over 20 years old. Yeah I think you are right, I’m aware that humanity was like that in MOO2 and that’s fine but I think they should try to make humanity more interesting do their own thing. Yeah i agree, I loved DS9 by far my favorite Star Trek show it had so many awesome stories and well-made characters and a much more balanced humanity. Although, I think that if the humans are portrayed that way (Gene's way) in this game then it'll be more because that's how they were in MOO2, rather than lifting them directly from Trek. I always wonder how much less preachy TNG could have been if he'd had more involvement with it. And of course Ira Steven Behr helped a lot with DS9. The films take on the Federation really improved drastically once they moved Gene out of the producer role and Harve Bennett took over. It's really a shame that so much other sci-fi has borrowed his views. Originally posted by robomagon:Yeah, Roddenberry's take on the future of humanity was always kind of, well, "delusional" is the most polite way I can say it. ![]() I think this game is going to be great very good work so far :-) Also do not think i want some human underdog story that is also used to much in Sci fi :-P. Also if this is wrong and you did plan to make the humans balanced then I just misunderstood and you can just ignore this since you did say/imply in the trailer humans have some focus on their fleet. Also sorry for any bad English was always bad at typing even in my own language. PS: Don’t get me wrong I love Star Trek but when it comes to doing humans justice I think others Sci fis do a better job. I think a grey humanity like Babylon 5 and Mass Effect is a lot more interesting and believable then the perfect moral diplomatic crusaders like in Star Trek, a more realistic depiction of humanity resonates better with the players and I think makes a better feeling of attachment to the flawed but indomitable humans you are trying to protect in a big sometimes hostile galaxy. Instead of being the perfect diplomates of the galaxy humans should be more militaristic like in Babylon 5 and the grey side and darker side of humans should be shown, greed, corruption, power hungry, crime ,substance abuse and a human tendency to turn to totalitarianism and using violence, and being manipulative when things don’t go our way, all of this was shown in Babylon 5 and I think it needs to be shown more in other Sci fi as well. Since you seem to take a lot of inspiration from Babylon 5 already why not use their view on humanity as well. I think the best Sci fi depiction of humans I have seen is Babylon 5 and Mass Effect in both of these universes especially in Babylon 5 a more balanced and grey humanity is depicted not a black or white humans like they do in so many Sci fis. It’s just not very realistic and true to real life, it’s just the boring way to do humans. Now I see that this game takes a lot of inspiration from Babylon 5 which I think is awesome because its one of the best sci fi shows I have seen, and has one of the most well developed universes, particularly the races and their interaction with each other is so good.īut it’s a shame then when I read about your version of humanity and watched the trailer, I’m kind of disappointed with your take on the human race, if there is one thing I’m sick of in 4x games and most Sci fi shows it’s the standard depiction of humanity as the diplomatic/utopia super race. Hello devs I’m really looking forward to this game everything you have showed so far looks great but I do have one thing I want to discuss or talk about.
